So…I’ve written this, or something similar to it, dozens of times. On various journals, blogs, forums and in emails to friends (said friends are likely going to read this and roll their eyes so hard they give themselves a migraine. I’m watching you, damnit!). But you know what? It bears repeating. I’m not gonna lie, I get a bit in-depth (more so than I ever have before, actually), so this post isn’t for everyone. I have a thing for instrumental music. A big thing. See, everyone that knows me will often hear me humming or singing along to something – … Continue reading You Don’t Need Words
On the 4th of December, Sarah has a really bad head, so today we’re going to listen to some peaceful and beautiful music, and Sarah is going to try to not be sick. It feels like someone is repeatedly smacking me in the back of the head, with a really heavy…something or other. Also, is your brain supposed to pulse…? =S Onto today’s musical offering – Sopor Æternus & the Ensemble of Shadows. Anna-Varney Cantodea is a complicated artist, she does not perform in front of humans, and is very isolated. Her music is…astounding, I think is a good word. I am not … Continue reading 31 days, 31 gifts// Sopor Æternus & the Ensemble of Shadows
On the 2nd of December, The ESC_Verse presents to you…a small collection of songs, that everyone should hear, at least once. Each of these songs…they’re just so beautiful. If our souls could talk, this is how I’d wish for mine to sound like. Clean, pure, stunning, complete. All I ask, is that you listen to each track, before deciding you love or hate any of the songs. Listen, let the music wash over you, and if you still don’t need these bands in your life…well…maybe my idea of true beauty is just different to yours. Please note – this post … Continue reading 31 days, 31 gifts// Auditory Completion
maybeshewill are one of my favourite instrumental bands, they’re absolutely mind blowing. Their music…it gives me goosebumps. There’s this one song, that I played for days on repeat, when my Grandma died…’Critical Distance’. It’s one of the most beautiful things, I’ve ever heard. I think it’s primarily the opening that gets me…it just sounds so…lovely. This band really are amazing, but get nowhere near as much recognition as they deserve. Music doesn’t need lyrics, to mean something. Continue reading maybeshewill…maybeshewon’t…
Today you’ll be listening to the overwhelming beauty that is…God Is An Astronaut! GiaA are an instrumental & post-rock band, hailing from Glen of the Downs, Ireland. The band is made up of – Niels Kinsella, Torsten Kinsella, Lloyd Hanney & Jamie Dean (since 2011) – these 4 men make some of the most beautiful music, that I have ever heard. I would absolutely love to see GiaA live – they call their live shows a ‘full audio visual show’, as they have self-edited video footage projected on a screen behind them, which is accompanied by a crazy lighting routine. I … Continue reading 31 days, 31 gifts – God Is An Astronaut Edition!
