31 days, 31 gifts – wiL Francis Edition!

Today you’ll be getting to know…wiL ‘William Control’ Francis! wiL is the vocalist for Aiden(previously the bassist), along with the vocalist of his side project, William Control. I dunno what it is about this guy, but I adore him. When I was much younger, I was a huge fan of Aiden – I still enjoy listening to them, every now and then. So when I heard that wiL was working on a side project, aka William Control, I eagerly awaited an album – that I wrongly assumed would be much like Aiden’s previous offerings…

William Control is completely different to Aiden, but I find that I prefer William Control to Aiden now. WC is an acquired taste, I’m not going to lie – I think WC sort of falls into the ‘darkwave’ genre, which I think is an excellent genre anyway. I think it’s primarily the story behind the album ‘Hate Culture’ – that William Control is a man spending his last night on earth, due to his wanting to kill himself, that I find so interesting. Their latest offering, ‘Noir’ – while still a decent album, for me is inferior to Hate Culture.

So yea, the below video is ‘Beautiful Loser’ by William Control. The song does contain language, you have been warned. I actually really love this slightly peculiar video.

Below is ‘We Sleep Forever’ by Aiden. This song was quite a change to what I had come to expect from Aiden…still, I love this song, and the film ‘Dead Silence’ is rather good too.

And the final video is ‘I Set My Friends On Fire’ by Aiden. I just think it’s fascinating to see, and hear how different Aiden is to WC, and also how Aiden have changed – how they’ve matured, I suppose.

Anyway, I think wiL is a beautiful, and extremely talented young man. I find him quite fascinating, but as I said above – Aiden & WC are both very much acquired tastes. Give them a try though, you may be surprised =)

  1. Surprisingly I quite like the first video, enjoyed the second but I’m afraid the third made me cringe a little. Sorry. All round though another new thing to look out for!
